My sweet baby boy will be THREE next weekend! Three! I don't even know how it happened and why he's growing up on my so fast but I wanted to do a jungle/wild animal theme party for him because he absolutely loves animals and any excuse to add to his ever growing collection of animal figures is always a good idea. I found all of these random figures on Amazon and ordered them for his party decorations plus they're gifts too. Just in decoration form (don't worry, I'll be removing the balloons and hats before he gets them)
I made the little party hats using a template I found online on This Heart of Mine blog
Then while he was gone to hang out with his Dad today, I got to work. I used a paper pad called Happy Cake Day because the colors were unisex and fun. Tinsel pom poms for the tops and I used Aleene'sTurbo craft glue for this. I know lots of people recommend hot glue on their blogs but I use craft glue for everything and "turbo" works really fast... so far so good.
I also made a couple of packages using foam I had laying around with the same scrapbook paper, mini pom poms and bakers twine. One for the hippos mouth and one for the croc to carry on his back
I made the balloons using lightweight clay, acrylic craft paint from Michael's and then wired bakers twine. Next time I wouldn't use the bakers twine wire because it just doesn't stay put like I'd want it to. BUT he's three and he will probably let me leave that on for all of two minutes while we sing happy birthday right?!? I'd use just colored jewelry wire next time.
I'm using the four baby animals on his cake as toppers and the large animals as table decorations. I'll be painting the balloons with glitter paint as soon as the clay has hardened. This is the first time I've ever used that Hearty super lightweight clay and I LOVED it!!! So great. Almost foamy and perfect for something like this.
Now, I just have to get it all hidden until next weekend. I'll be sure to share pictures of the party once I have it decorated, before he has a chance to take it all apart
Have you made animal party hats before?? If not, I hope these at least made you smile. Enjoy your weekend xx Dani
